The main goal of the project is to conduct strategic research into developing new processes for the decorative coating of ceramics, glass, metals and polymers for application in large-scale sectors such as construction, the automotive industry and household appliances, using state-of-the-art technologies that will enable fast industrial deployment. These processes must be environmentally friendly and replace current processes.
Some project results include:
Innovative bioclimatic coatings to improve the energy efficiency of glass for the construction sector.
Touch screens with anti-bacterial properties.
New decorative and functional coatings for small household appliances, for example, iron soles with low-friction PVD coatings.
Coloured anti-reflective coatings on ophthalmic lenses.
New Braille writing system using hi-tech laser and PVD technologies.
